Called support, they said defective watch return it. Received my second Series 8 iWatch today. Same issue, while on the phone with Apple Support I decided to try spinning the watch several times on the charger one way then spin it the opposite direction. Magically it restarted and I could pair to the watch. PS The first one acted in the same way
